The “Wishes for the Holidays”

In GPLN Updates & Announcements on December 28, 2009 at 1:53 pm

I was recently asked why I didn’t send out any wishes for the holidays for all network members. Actually, this is something that I don’t really take lightly but the truth of the matter is this:

On Friday(Chrsitmas Day) alone I received over 450 e-mails that were simply “best wishes” and this took up over 45 MB of incoming space in my Outlook.

It is precisely for this reason that I do not send out any best wishes by e-mail anymore. I am not grumpy nor do I consider myself any kind of Scrooge but the fact of the matter is that most people you know and many people you don’t even know want to send out their holiday greetings it is a big waste of work time and energy for the recipient. And for those who have agents and clients all over the world there very rarely is one single e-mail that will stand out.

I admit, many people do get into the season and enjoy sending and receiving these messages from friends, family and colleagues but from my perspective I don’t believe it is everyone so my small gift is to not clog someone’s e-mail with my own animated greeting or attachment. I am sure many of you will understand.

By the way, since you are reading this:

Happy holidays!
