Trans International Logistics moves complete Sythetic Latex Global Plant: Pasir Gudang, Malaysia

In GPLN Member News on February 5, 2010 at 8:39 pm

Trans International Logistiks Sdn Bhd, a GPLN member in Malaysia, recently completed the project cargo movements from Europe and Asia for the Synthetic Latex Global Plant located in Pasir Gudang, Malaysia with a total project volume of about 20,000 FRT.

As indirect tax exemption consultants for the project, we had successfully applied our expertise in submitting, tabulating and obtaining exemption approvals from the authorities. We also excelled in applying and obtaining import permits and governmental certification from regulatory bodies for the importation of their special equipments and machineries.

Other than general cargoes by sea, air and road transports, the project included movements of heavy lift cargoes of 3 reactors at 95 tons each and 3 strippers at 65 tons each and other over-dimensioned cargoes. For the heavy lifts, on-carriage to site was arranged on multi-axle trailers after temporary storage on elephant legs and beams so as to be in coordination with the plant site readiness and receiving management.

Trans International Logisiks was proud to report that all deliveries were executed well within the required time frames and with zero untoward incidents.

Ticona Project: MV Jumbo Vision offloading steel racks

In Blogroll, GPLN Member News on January 21, 2010 at 10:39 am

Europe Cargo was approached for the reception in Antwerp ex geared coaster up to barged to Fluor Terminal Frankfurt, Germany. The vessel, MV Jumbo Vision loaded in Punta Cugno, Italy and sailed from Punta Cugno port. The project consisted of 37 pieces of preassembled steel rack (858.303 mt / 14,095.695 m3), two cases of lifting equipment (2,276 mt / 6 m3) and eight pieces of lifting equipment (adjustable spreader bars / extenders: 7478 mt / 18 m3).

Europe Cargo’s supervisor reported that the cargo was loaded under deck as well as on deck. On Europe Cargo’s instructions, the crew unlashed the chains and unwelded stoppers and D-rings upon arrival at the Antwerp port.

The cargo was unloaded at the Europe Cargo terminal with specialized and necessary stevedore lifting equipment (extenders – easily adjustable) and by two Gottwald motorized mobile cranes with capacities of 100 mt (not by ship’s gear due to outreach and storage onto the shore and two cranes instead of one due to length of the cargo).

Due to the large storage area required, MV Jumbo Vision had to shift 40 m. Europe Cargo jointly surveyed unloading operations with the receiver’s appointed surveyors. Europe Cargo also arranged customs clearance in Antwerp. After unloading, necessary repairs and cleaning of the frames was arranged and took several days. When this was completed Europe Cargo ordered and arranged loading of four barges (110 m x 45 m) for the inland transport via Rhine river to the final Frankfurt site.

Europe Cargo’s profressional expertise in the project was highly appreciated by the receivers’ engineers!

GPLN Member Younger Niche cargo heading overland to PuXiang Port

In GPLN Member News on December 24, 2009 at 10:59 am

Global Project Logistics Network member Younger Niche Logistics (YNL) has the distinction of being responsible for the movement of the single largest piece of equipment ever moved by road transport in ZhangJiaGang, Jiangsu Province, China. The piece, 14m x 7.4m x 7.9m / 86,000kgs, was moved by road from the supplier’s premises to PuXiang port, ZhangJiaGang. The move, covering 30 kms, took 22 hours to complete and involved the services of local ZhangJiaGang government, the police and officials from the department of electrical power.

In order to reduce height the unit was transported minus cradles. Only once alongside vessel was the unit positioned and secured in cradles.

PuXiang port, a privately owned facility, was chosen as the load port as access from suppliers whilst still difficult was the closest with less overhead obstructions than other roadways to the public port.

YNL were instrumental in obtaining berthing rights for the ocean carrier, a foreign flag vessel, at PuXiang port.

On making the announcement, Peters & May’s managing director Jan Rydgren-Knudsen, said: “We are very happy to announce this tie up with Oceanbridge Shipping, a company with an expanding portfolio of clients that has proven itself to be dynamic and most professional – qualities that mirror the philosophy and ideals of Peters & May.”

“We look forward to working with them and are confident that this new relationship will be a valued enhancement to the services we deliver to our clients as the service and support of Oceanbridge will be

Alister Wishart, chief operations officer of Oceanbridge Shipping, commented: “The acquisition of Complete Freight by Peters & May is very much welcomed and the joining of the two companies will, I

“We are extremely excited to have signed this exclusive agency agreement with Peters & May and eagerly look forward to supporting their worldwide clients’ shipment needs. The agreement is mutually

beneficial and will both enhance and strengthen Oceanbridge’s position as the leading marine logistics provider in our region.”

This work was part of an ongoing one year contract for Wilhelmsen Ships Service (Barwil) Saudi Arabia to be the nominated logistics partner for China Harbour Engineering Company Limited for the construction of the harbor at the Raz Az Zawr Port EPC Project. Raz Az Zawr is located 350 kilometers outside of the DammamPort and this particular shipment consisted of 50 trailers of pipe casings and tools. Global Project Logistics Network (GPLN)

The Global Project Logistics Network (GPLN) is fairly well known in the market but there are some people who are less familiar with business-to-business networking who ask me what the benefits of membership might be.  I am always happy to explain the benefits and also to point them to the website as well.  At the same time I think it would be helpful to have a blog posting on this so it will be out there for everyone to see.

There are many benefits and different companies will appreciate different benefits in ways that others might not.  That’s normal because every company is different, operating in its own market with its own marketing niche.  So what I would like to do is to go over what I see as the most important benefits of the being a member of GPLN.  Others might give you a different idea in the end, but I do think the below three benefits are both important and substantial to project forwarders and chartering companies the world over:

1)      GPLN will expand your international projects marketing focus. Because of the diverse services of the GPLN members you are able to sell not only deeper into project accounts but up and down your prospects’ project supply chains. Your company also expands its sales force through the power of networking by joint sales with your GPLN partners around the world. Throughout our membership, GPLN partners offer greatly expanded customer base potential.

2)      In GPLN you will know your partner. Our regional and global meetings will allow you the face-to-face contact with your GPLN partners where you will be able to efficiently build professional relationships in the most lasting and cost effective manner.  You are afforded the opportunity to meet a multitude of partner companies to discuss past, current and future business, exchange sales leads, and develop a range of business possibilities that your company could only achieve by constant expensive business trip.

3)      GPLN expands your operational capabilities. You will have confidence in your GPLN partners’ abilities to satisfy your clients’ requirements. Throughout GPLN you will find available to you the combined professional project experience, local know how, and operational competence to move the world. GPLN members excel in the expertise of moving oversized, out-of-gauge and heavy lift project cargo.

If you would like to know more about the above benefits I am more than happy to discuss them with you.  You can contact me through our website or you can have a look through our membership directory and find a member you might be comfortable in asking about how they benefit.  You will see why we are the best known and most respected project cargo network in the business today.  We are here for you!

Belleville Rodair uses Euro Combi trailers for transporting windmill blades

In GPLN Member News on June 1, 2009 at 11:57 am

Shipping windmill blades from the origin in Poland to Japan via Rostock port in Germany.

There are special trailers that can transport up to three wings at one time, each 45 m long. The wing truck has four axle lines, obtained by combining two modular Euro Combi trailers with special adapters and extendable beams. The low floor height of the Euro Combi’s allow the three wings to be carried without exceeding the four-meter legal road height. Swing axles give it a high ground clearance when moving off-road. The steering axle displacement up to 60° provides maneuverability when having to pass tight roundabouts.

Tower Adapters used overland from Czech Republic to Hungary by Bellville Rodair

In GPLN Member News on March 15, 2009 at 11:39 am

Origin: Chrudim,Czech Republic
Destination: Mosonszolnok, Hungary

Biggest oversize dimensions: 24.4 meters long / 57 tons / 4.04 meters diameter

Bellville Rodair Energy Team (BRET) is currently working on several future projects that can only be shipped using tower adapters, due to the very tight road turns that the tower sections must take in order to reach their final site.

As an alternative to drop deck and vessel deck trailers, recently some truck producers have designed tower adapters that are coupled directly to the tower sections. Thus, the truck has no need for deck at all, with the tower section acting as a connecting beam between the truck modules. The tower adapters in turn are coupled to the truck’s heavy-duty modules (for the return trip, the two tower adapters are bolted together to form a multi-axle unit).
